CNHC Consultation response to NICE guidelines

Posted by lizrichardson – Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016

Dear Members and Friends of CAR

You may or may not be aware, by now, that the revision of NICE Guidelines for Improving Supportive and Palliative Care in Adults is underway and the scoping process has recommended that Complementary Therapy Services (CT) are removed from the guidelines.  The rationale and implications for removing CT have yet to be identified.

If NICE withdraws its support for CT, this may have implications for future funding of CT in establishments that receive NHS funding for palliative care, and may also result in CT being removed from other NICE guidelines.

The Consultation document shared with you here was collated by CNHC, they invited all interested parties(stakeholders) to share relevant information, argument and rationale to compile an informed response on behalf of the CT profession.

Special thanks from CAR to all informants sharing  news of this proposal, to the contributors and CNHC for their initiative and commitment to our industry for producing this extensive and potentially persuasive response.

Best wishes to all.
